Long-time Atty Steptoe, International Trade “Pioneer” Dies at 79

Cunningham, a distinguished international trade lawyer who spent five decades at Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where he represented clients in all areas, from negotiations government-to-government free trade lawyer in major import aid cases, has died at the age of 79.

Steptoe & Johnson announced his death on Tuesday, calling the lawyer a “larger than life force” in the international trade arena that has brought “great importance” to the firm. Steptoe said Cunningham died on November 26; the company did not provide information on the cause of his death.
