COMMUNITY EVENTS Veterans Day Service

American Legion Post # 64 and the Greene County Honor Guard will perform a Veterans Day service on November 11 at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Park, 805 Forest Street, Greeneville, TN 37743.

A free shuttle will be offered to Parc des Vétérans from the parking lot located at the corner of Forest and Maude streets.

In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held at Cross Roads Church, located in the EXPO building on Fairgrounds Road.

Haunted Legacy Hill

Century 21 Legacy of Greeneville will host Legacy’s Haunted Hill, with a trick-or-treat drive-thru Saturday from 4 pm to 6 pm at 93 N. Rufe Taylor Road.

Hallelujah party

Greene Ridge FWBC will have a Hallelujah party on Saturday. There will be a scavenger hunt and pumpkin decoration at 4 p.m. A hamburger and hot dog dinner will be served at 5:30 pm and a movie will be shown at 6:30 pm Costumes are welcome. There will be Jesus train rides during the day, a bonfire and s’mores, and a fall photo booth.

Fifth Sunday Dinner

The Mohawk Ruritan Club will sponsor a fifth Sunday dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mohawk Community Center. The menu includes turkey and dressing or cooked ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, bread and dessert. No drinks will be served. Prices are $ 8 for adults and $ 4 for children 12 and under. The meal will be served curbside only. No seats or toilets inside will be available.

Prepare your shotguns. The Lamar Ruritan Club will be hosting a pumpkin patch on November 6 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Fender’s Farm in Jonesborough. The cost is $ 5 per shot. Prizes will be awarded for the most destroyed pumpkin. Profits will go to benefit projects in and around the community of Lamar.

Breakfast in the Ruritanian limestone countryside

The Limestone Ruritan, located at 121 Limestone Ruritan Road, will host a country buffet breakfast on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. The all-you-can-eat meal is $ 8 per person. Come hungry. Take-out cards will be available VISA and MasterCard will be accepted.

UMC Wesley’s Chapel Garage Sale

The women of Wesley’s Chapel United Methodist Church will sponsor a garage sale Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Frosty Valley Christmas Craft Show

The Frosty Valley Christmas Craft Show will be held at the Old Greystone School at 3160 Greystone Road, Greeneville, on November 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be several artisans with a wide variety of handmade items; there will also be baked goods and lunch available, festive live Christmas music (you can sing along!) and coloring pages for the kids. American Legion Christmas Dinner

American Legion Post # 64 will be holding its annual Christmas dinner on December 6. Meal will be taken care of and all members planning to attend are required to confirm attendance by calling 423-552-4304 by November 22 with their name and number of guests who will be attending.

Fund raising

The Nolachuckey Ruritan presents Threads of Faith in concert on November 5, 7-9 p.m. at the St. James School Auditorium at 3220 St. James Road, Greeneville, TN 37743. Admission is $ 5 per anybody. Food will be served. All proceeds will go to support the Nolachuckey Ruritan.

Parrottsville Candy Contest

The Parrottsville Ruritan Club, in collaboration with the Parrottsville Rural Medical Clinic and the Parrottsville Fire Department, will be handing out candy to the Parrottsville Fire Department on Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Come see us.

Trunk-Or-Treat At First Baptist

First Baptist Church Baileyton will have a Trunk or Treat on Saturday starting at 5.30 p.m.

The Sunnyside Volunteer Fire Department will host the 2021 Trunk or Treat between the old Sunnyside School parking lot located at 420 Sunnyside Road in Greeneville on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

Coffee veteran to veteran

Caris Healthcare and Peggy Ann Bakery will welcome a veteran to the Veteran Cafe on November 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at 934 Snapps Ferry Road. Come join us for free coffee and pastries. There is no general agenda, just good conversation and friendships.

VFD Debusk Haunted Firehouse

The Debusk Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a magic trick and haunted fire station on Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The magic trick is free and the haunted fire station is offered by donation. Both events will take place at the Debusk Volunteer Fire Department, 599 Debusk Road, Greeneville.

South Central Turkey Shooting

A shoot on Turkey sponsored by South Central Ruritan takes place every Friday evening. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and filming begins at 6 p.m. Food will be available.

Wednesdays BBQ Benefits ALPES

Visit Top Choice BBQ every Wednesday in October and a percentage of your purchase will go to ALPS Adult Day Services Greeneville Center. All money raised will help offset the cost of our sliding ladder at our Greeneville location.

Help from the Appalachians

The Appalachian Helping Hands Ministry is a clothes closet with housewares and toiletries located in the St. James Community Center across from the St. James Lutheran Church, 3220 St. James Road. Jacob’s Well free breakfasts are first Thursday and third Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to noon. A monthly food distribution is organized by Second Harvest of Northeast TN every fourth Thursday at 9:30 am. The AHH Christmas Room will be open until December 18, where participants will receive 25 Christmas gifts of their choice. There is never a cost for the service. Turkey shooting

Leesburg Ruritan will host a turkey shoot every Saturday night with registration starting at around 5pm. The cost is $ 2.50 for each round, with a minimum of five rounds. The address is 1429 Old Stagecoach Road, Jonesborough. For any questions, contact Carl Barker at 423-753-6854 or 856-466-1695.

MEETINGS Historical Society of the Baileyton Region

The American Legion Post # 64 and the Auxiliaries will have their monthly meeting Monday at the local station, located at 101 Longview Drive. Light refreshments will be served at 5:30 pm The status meeting will begin at 6:00 pm. All veterans are welcome to attend.

The Greene County Republican Party will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday at the Eastview Recreation Center.

The VFW Post # 1990 meets on the last Thursday of each month at 6.30 p.m.

Marine Corps League Elbert Kinser

Marine Corps League Detachment # 615 Elbert Kinser meets monthly on the second Thursday of the month at 70 Harlan Drive, Greeneville, TN 37743.
